She takes off her three inch red heels as she settles herself by the book shelf far back from the book store. Putting the books she picked out 10 minutes ago aside and pulled out her mp3 player. She picked her fav playlist and hit play before picking the first book, gossip girl, psycho killer. Read about three pages before her lack of sleep kicked in. Sighing to herself she close the book as well as her eye lids.
The calm jazz music keep being her lullaby until someone walks past her, abruptly waking her up.
Again, sighing to herself she tried to read the book but failed. it was boring to her.
for a second, her eyes went up, looking around the bookstore. it was quiet yet hushed whispers could be heard. And her eyes fell on the guy who sat right across her.
He was so immersed in his reading, she cant help herself to smile. One after one page, he kept turning.
She smiled before looking away, feeling she had trespass his privacy.
But from the corner of her eyes, she could see he smiled as he reads his very thick book.
As minutes passed, she looked up again from another book she was reading, called, its kind of a funny story and saw the guy finally turn his attention to something else. face crumpled, he typed in some message into his yellow smart phone before swiftly stood up and leave.
Her playlist too, have changed its songs and as bigbang lies continue being her soundtrack, she keep on reading. this time, her sleepy mood has vanish. the book about a depressed boy manage to grab her attention fully.
As she reads on, wearing only one earphone out of habit, she heard a loud rock-ish music from her side.
Assuming it was some call coming in from some chinese girl, she didnt even look up from her book..she just keep on reading..its chapter four already.
Totally unaware of her surroundings, she literally throw herself inside the story she was reading until
she saw someone came closer to her sitting spot through the corner of her eyes.
So finally for the past 45 minutes, she looked up from her book and the first thing she saw was another boy have replaced the previously vacant space. Then her eyes trailed off and realise the man just walked past her after picking up some children books.
And her eyes fall back to the guy who was sitting infront of her. She looked at his attire. A bright yellow sleeveless jersey, a light grey knee length shorts and a back pack right beside him.
at first she snort to herself. she never adore guys in sleeveless shirts but then her eyes fell for the book he was holding.
It was called, 'its kind of a funny story'
And she smiled. Laughed quietly to herself even.
They sat at the same spot, both holding the same book.
She then looked at his face. his hair was cut clean. pitch black with zero trace of any highlights whats so ever.
Even his face was clean. No trace of any piercing or crap.
Still smiling, she went back to her book. Reading it quietly with a small smile for about 20 minutes before the same rock-ish song were heard, rather closer to her this time. And quickly she looked up.
It was the same person who is sitting across her. except he wasnt the chinese girl she expected.
She looked at him carefully as he checked his phone before picking it up.
didnt want to pry, she continue reading with a remake song, unwell from the drama called kitchen musical as her current soundtrack.
But as hard as she tried to ignore his conversation she still manage to hear some of it...
Well, most of it actually.
Whether its his family or his girlfriend, she never know but they talked about meeting at some cafe at lower ground level. He asked about the place several times to his caller, "the one at the end right? "
After three times, without shutting his phone shut, he stands up, pick up his bag and place the book back to its shelf before walks away.
As his figures fade, the girl smiled.
What if things were different. As her mind trails off to some weird possibilities, she put back on her heels and went to the cashier to pay for the book she's been reading.
Aell, everything is based on WHAT IF'S
